Demo for Palestine’s freedom in Stockholm

Circa 500 people demonstrated today through central Stockholm in support of
the Palestinian struggle. The common demands of the demo were @Condemn the
occupation politics of Israel” and “Freedom for Palestine”. Shouts of
“Intifada leads the way” echoed throughout the 30 minute march.
The demo was arranged by the Syndicalist Youth Federation, AFA-Stockholm,
the Palestine Group and Jews for Peace. Many other groups supported the
action.
Beginning in the central city district, the demo proceeded to a square
adjacent the parliamentary buildings and royal palace. Speakers criticised
the Swedish government’s inability to act in a definite matter in the
crisis in the Middle East and special criticism was directed towards the
Queen of Sweden and her hypocrisy in dealing with children from the region.
Along the demo route, side streets leading towards the Israeli embassy and
Jewish synagogue were cordoned off by the police. The demo ended without
incident.
