Final Decision of IAMI case
Dear friends,
As known, three emembers of IAMI was being accused and
judged by the general military court of violating the
article 155 "alienating people from military service" by a
press decleration which was organised in order to support
Osman Murat Ulke on the 15 of May 1999 when he was in
prison.
Yesterday the final desicion trial took place in Ankara
General Military Court. And I am vey glad to anounce that
all the three accused friends were acquitted from the case.
The desicion can be named as a small victory against the
military courts which can judge civilian people because none
of the accuseds and lawyers made any kind of formal
defence in the trials.
An international delegation of three persons (Hans Van
Heijningen from XminusY Solidarity Fund-Holland, Sarah
Woodhouse from War Resisters International- UK, Yiannis
Glarnetatzis from EBCO-Greece) attended the trial as
observers and did not face any negative reaction from the
court and military staff.
IAMI thanks for all your solidarity.
King Regards,
Uygar Abaci on behalf of IAMI
