here's a translation of a flyer we gave out in Mendiola.

Destroy the state apparatus!
Crush it!
Turn it to food!*
Every year, millions of pesos are wasted for
the macho men in the military.* Every year,
millions of pesos are fed to the IMF, World
Bank, Asian Development Bank and other
banks for servicing the state's debt. Every
year, the ecology and animals are being
treated as "objects", "resources" for the
benefit of "man". Every year, millions of people
are dying because of hunger....
WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE OF THIS! Let's turn the
state to "lugaw" (much like porridge)! As in
MELT the structures that oppress us! If you
want to eat some with us, let's go!

* no. 1 --- can't seem to find the exact translation.
that's our attempt to make the flyer funny and witty.
* no. 2 --- the exact translation is this:
"Every year, millions of pesos of pesos are
wasted for penis enlargement in the military."
Again a shot at the machoistic, sexist,
hierarchical military.
A short anecdote --- Near Mendiola, I
accidentally gave out this flyer to two Catholic
nuns passing by, and they kinda gave me an angry
look (the Filipino word for penis is
"titi"). I just laughed out loud.
